Chesapeake Contracting Group Completes 300,000-square-foot State-of-the-art BMW Dealership in Montgomery County
Equipped with 48 lifts, 2,500 tons of structural steel, joists and decking, and 625 parking spaces for employees, customers and inventory, the NEW BMW dealership in Montgomery County, MD is one of the most ambitious and innovative projects recently unveiled by Chesapeake Contracting Group. Construction was completed in only 17 months, opening summer of 2020. This is the 5th BMW dealership and 90th automotive project completed by CCG in the region. “This was by far Priority 1 Automotive’s largest and most complex dealership project yet. The entire team at Chesapeake did an amazing job from the value engineering in early planning stages to working closely with us all the way through completion of construction. The 300,000 square foot facility is one of the most prestigious BMW dealership facilities in the country,” said Marc Cohen, Vice President, Priority 1 Automotive Group.
During the course of building the 5-story complex, over 300 trailer loads of steel were delivered during the 4-month long erection schedule to maximize unobstructed floor plan layouts at the first-floor showroom and second-floor service department. The crane used for construction was 250 feet when fully extended.
“We are really proud of this particular project as the design and enormity of it involved being creative and pioneering in our approach. While we are active in many different markets, we have been an expert in constructing car dealerships for decades and enjoy the challenges and unique opportunities they present,” said Michael Ginsberg, Executive Vice President.
