The Brambleton Town Center is a vibrant nexus for commercial, recreational, and community activities in Loudoun County, Virginia. In partnership with Loudoun County, the Brambleton Group developed a library branch that serves as the cornerstone of its Town Center. The library brings long-awaited resources and business capacity to this growing community for life-long learning, creativity and gathering. Working with highly skilled architects, the Brambleton Library stands today as one of the most attractive buildings in the Brambleton Town Center. The 40,000 SF library occupies the lower 2 stories of a new four-story office building. It shares a common lobby with a retail area, where library patrons, employees, and locals can relax and mingle. The exterior design reveals the bright and engaging interior. Two-story millstone boxes with punched openings echo the many historic mills of Loudoun County, while the four-story, red-brown brick with black iron metal work allude to a flexible commercial, industrial space. To support the Loudoun County Public Library mission, interior spaces invite children, teens and adults to discover learning in new ways. Materials were selected for longevity, including the wood framed Discovery Wall. The sturdy wood frames act as reading benches, display cases, staff access openings, viewing windows to study rooms and colorful illuminated light boxes. The wall’s diagonal orientation and associated lighting organize the interior spaces. Design features also enhance the quality-of-life, connectively, and employment opportunities for residents. The library includes a “laptop bar”, a mixing/recording room, and electrical access at every sitting area.
