Celebrating 45 Years of Growth and Expansion at Chesapeake

As Chesapeake Contracting Group marks its 45th year in the construction industry, we reflect on the growth and expansion that has led us to become a leading builder in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. From our humble beginnings in Reisterstown, Maryland, to the recent openings of offices in Owings Mills, Annapolis, Herndon, and Raleigh, our story is one of continuous evolution, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

For over three decades, our Main Street office in Reisterstown served as the heart of Chesapeake Contracting Group. It was here that the company laid its foundation, building a legacy rooted in quality craftsmanship and unwavering dedication to client satisfaction. As the years passed, however, it became evident that our success had outgrown the limits of our original headquarters.

In 2018, as our company expanded and our associate base grew in the Anne Arundel County area, Chesapeake unveiled its Annapolis office. This strategic move in our history was driven by the understanding that our associates, residing in the surrounding areas, deserved enhanced support and a local hub to collaborate. Opening the Annapolis office was a proactive step to accommodate our growing team, ensure top talent was easily accessible, and support the local community.

The year 2021 brought another significant milestone with the grand opening of our state-of-the-art office in Owings Mills. This growth and expansion at Chesapeake was not merely a change in location but a strategic decision to accommodate the company's continuous growth. The new 20,000-square-foot office space, nearly 8,000 square feet larger than the Reisterstown office, was designed with a blend of modern aesthetics and functional efficiency.

"We wanted to make sure we were closer to amenities so our associates would have time to run out and do whatever they needed to do, have more options for lunch and be able to go to the gym," shared Frank Settleman, President of Chesapeake Contracting Group.

The Owings Mills office features individual offices, workstations, meeting rooms, training room with ping-pong, and large, open spaces. The incorporation of sit-stand desks, spacious workstations, and glass panels reflects our commitment to creating a collaborative and associate-friendly environment.

Having been building in Northern Virginia for over 30 years, Chesapeake opened an office in Herndon in 2020. The success of this location prompted the construction of a new office in the same area, which officially opened its doors last year. This expansion serves as a testament to the thriving relationships with local trade partners, clients, and team members, further solidifying our presence in the Northern Virginia region.

“Our new Herndon office further empowers us to emphasize more on serving our Northern Virginia customers. The office supports our mission to create great experiences for our clients, associates, trade partners, consultants, and the community,” emphasized Settleman.

Continuing its proactive approach, Chesapeake addressed the demands of its clients by setting up an office in Raleigh, North Carolina, in March 2022. The growth to a new location in the Raleigh area exemplifies the company's dedication to effectively meeting the needs of our clients in North Carolina.
