Meet Jamie Taylor

January 10, 2022 | By Chesapeake Contracting Group | Hard Hat Hang Up

Meet Jamie Taylor - Technical Operations Manager and the first Hard Hat Hang-Up feature of 2022!

Jamie joined the CCG team in 2013, responsible for accounts payable and technology. In 2018, Jamie transitioned solely into the Technical Operations Manager role as the company adapted Procore and our need for flexible work environments grew. Now more than ever, CCG's technology department plays a vital role in the success of our team and our projects, largely due to Jamie's hard work and dedication to making sure all associates have the tools needed to get the job done.

Last year, Jamie was tasked with the technology experience at our new Owings Mills office location, responsible for contracting the work and overseeing the cabling and AV companies. "Seeing all of the conference rooms and displays come together was awesome. I am very proud of our office and how it brings our team together to work and collaborate," he adds.

Aside from loving working with the technology equipment, Jamie's favorite part of his job is that he gets to interact with everyone at the company. Jamie notes, "I have had communication with just about every employee here at one point or another. I enjoy meeting each new hire on their first day and continue to work with them throughout their employment."

When Jamie's not at his computer he enjoys spending time with his family (6 children and 2 grandchildren), golfing or playing the guitar. Jamie and his son, Jimmie, also share a love of history and enjoy learning more about the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg.

Read Jamie's full interview below:

  1. What do you like most about being our Technical Operations Manager?

I like the fact that I get to know all of the employees at CCG.  I have had communication with just about every employee here at one point or another.  I also enjoy meeting each new employee on their first day and continue to work with them through out their employment.

Of course I can’t leave out the tech equipment.    I love working with computers, phones, ipads etc.

  1. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

I enjoy spending time with my family.  We have 6 children between the ages of 4 and 24 with 2 Grand Daughters and one Grand Son on the way.  So, when I am not at work I am home.  Helping care for our special needs daughter Cali has become a big part of my life.  Our son Jimmie is becoming quite a history buff especially regarding WWII.  Its nice that we share this common interests in wars and battles.  I am especially interested in the Civil War and the Batlle of Gettysburg.  My other interests are golf and playing the guitar.

  1. What’s your favorite thing about working at CCG?

The employees.  As I said before I get to know each employee that walks through the door.   I have been here since 2013 and have nothing but great experiences.  We really are a family.

  1. What is an exciting initiative that you just finished?

The technology experience at our new office in Owings Mills.  Majority of my role was to contract and work with  the cabling and AV companies.  This was my first experience with doing this on such a large scale.  Seeing all of the conference rooms and displays come together was awesome.  I am very proud of our office and conference rooms and how they bring our teams together to work and collaborate.

  1. Favorite thing about working in IT?

Change.  I am not one for change but in technology it’s the nature of the beast an I have learned to adapt.  Things are always changing.  You can try and stay ahead of it but there are many times your just trying to keep up and unfortunately putting out the fires.  Everyday can be different and I’d like to think I am up for the challenge.

  1. What was your career path at CCG (started in Accounting, transitioned into IT role, etc.)?

I was hired in the accounting department as Accounts Payable (Project Accountant as the role is called today).  My first week I was asked to handle the technology side of things as well.  This was a dual role until I came back to CCG in 2018 and I was able to transition into solely a technology role.
